Colima Christmas Overnight Trip

18th – 19th December 2019

Join us on our premier overnight trip to Colima and see Colima decorated in all its festive best!

Colonial Colima and its surroundings are popular weekend destinations for people from further inland and the coast alike. We aim to show you a few of the gems that are located in the area, located just over 2 hours away from Melaque and Barra de Navidad, yet at an altitude that makes the air less humid and thanks to the twin volcanoes a little bit cooler than on the coast.

Your two-day tour starts with a visit to see how the coffee plantations on the slopes of the volcanoes produce their wonderful coffee. We then visit the magic town of Comala to see how the famous fruit punches (alcoholic) and sweet breads are made using locally grown and produced ingredients. This is followed by lunch in the famous botaneros, where you can order drinks and are served food, whilst listening to mariachis performing. We then return to Colima centre and enjoy a walking tour of the downtown area.

On day 2, after breakfast, we head out to the archaeological site of La Campana to learn about the area’s prehispanic cultures. We then head to the hills and the small town of Chiapa for a chance to meet a local chocolate maker and learn about how he produces his delicious drinking and snacking chocolate. We round off our journey by visiting La Colimita for a tour, tasting, and lunch at one of the best beers producers in the growing Mexican craft beer industry.
